Dangerous Trees

Released in 2020

“Modern jazz done very well indeed! Hypnotic wordless vocal lines evoking the freeness of Björk at points, compelling rhythms and bass licks, in this intriguing track ‘Dangerous Trees’”.

— Seonaid Aitken (BBC Radio Scotland)

For this project, Mamon creates a multi-dimensional work, combining her strengths as jazz composer, vocalist, improviser, choreographer, and dancer, to create a piece celebrating the awe-inspiring power of trees. She teamed up with one of Glasgow’s most upcoming videographers Stuart Breadner and choreography assistant Chrissie Ardill, shooting in the forest of Paisley in the outskirts of Glasgow.

Combining the elaborate structures of contemporary choreography, inspired by the likes of Maurice Béjart and Pina Bausch, and her composition’s jazz and free improvisation language, this piece is an homage to the Rite of Spring but as its Autumn otherworldly counterpart.
